What Is FSSAI License for ?

The FSSAI launched the Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS) on June 1, 2020, replacing the old system. To run a food business, you need to get a Food License Registration certificate from the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI). FSSAI, part of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, ensures that food products are safe and high-quality. The FSSAI Certificate and FSSAI License are the same thing and show that your food meets safety and quality standards.

You need a Central FSSAI license for your main office or head office and State FSSAI licenses for each state where you operate. Register now to ensure your food business runs smoothly across different states.

You need a Central FSSAI License for the address listed in your Import Export Code (IEC). This license is required for any import-export business activities.

If the FSSAI License holder passes away, the license can be transferred to a legal representative or a family member. They will need to apply to the relevant authority to have the license put in their name.

If you're selling homemade products online and your business makes between 0 and 12 lakhs a year, you'll need an FSSAI registration. You can register here!

If you forget to renew your food license, you'll be charged a penalty of Rs. 100 per day during the grace period. After that, your license might be canceled, and you'll need to apply for a new one.

First, you need to get an Import Export Code (IEC). After that, apply for the FSSAI Central License before you start your business.

If you need to change or update details on your FSSAI Certificate, you must apply for a modification and pay a fee equal to the annual license fee. For free legal advice on this process, contact an FSSAI expert panel.

All catering businesses in India need this license. It’s also required for Indian Railways, Defense units, and Airports.
